You don’t have to be somewhere peaceful and quiet to meditate.

Meditation is as much about your state of mind and your ability to turn your awareness inwards in any situation.

This is why I can’t stress enough the importance of daily meditation, even if it is just for a few minutes.

In times of stress and turmoil it is harder to make that connection to your higher self and feel the calm but these are the times in your life when it is most important.

It is useful to visualise a nice place in your mind. It might be somewhere you have psychically been or somewhere you imagine you would love to go. It could be the woods, a meadow, the beach, flying high in the sky like a bird. Would it be near a babbling brook? An Autumn evening with a stunning sunset? Floating up high in a hot air balloon? The possibilities are endless because your mind is free to travel wherever you allow it to go.

Let’s do it now:

First become aware of your breathing, slow it down, take a few deep breaths in and feel yourself starting to relax. Imagine yourself standing in a lovely warm shaft of sunlight, feel it warming the whole of your body. As you are standing there, imagine the shaft of sunlight soaking into your body until it disappears and you find yourself standing in a beautiful place. This is your beautiful place, yours to visualise how you want.

Now you have created this place in your mind I suggest you visit it every day, even if it is just for a few minutes. I am sure everyone could find two or three minutes to shut their eyes and go into their own space. If you really and truly can’t find that time you could even do it while you go about your daily tasks like brushing your teeth, walking to work, preparing a meal etc because a waking meditation is better than no meditation.

I promise you that if you bring this into your daily life it will give you a new awareness of peace and calm and help bring a bit more clarity to your everyday thoughts and feelings.

Feel free to get in touch if you would like some one to one sessions with me where I could help you create that beautiful space. Or check out my meditation groups and workshops on meditation.
